Dr. Shawn Keegan
Clinic Director/Founder
Dr. Keegan specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic conditions affecting the spine and neuromusculoskeletal system. His clinical focus spans a wide spectrum of issues—from neck and back pain to sports injuries, headaches, and complex movement-related conditions in between.
With a strong background in sports and a deep understanding of athletic performance, Dr. Keegan is uniquely qualified to evaluate, treat, and manage sports-related injuries with confidence and precision. His approach goes beyond symptom relief—incorporating movement analysis, technique assessment, and performance optimization to help patients not only recover, but perform better and move with greater efficiency.
Dr. Keegan also brings decades of experience treating patients suffering from auto accident injuries, falls, arthritis, degenerative spinal conditions, disc injuries, and neurological symptoms such as numbness or tingling in the arms and legs. His care philosophy emphasizes addressing the root cause of pain while supporting long-term spinal health and functional resilience.
If you’re unsure whether chiropractic care is right for you, Dr. Keegan welcomes the opportunity to connect. He is always available to answer questions—whether in person or via email—and believes informed patients make the best decisions about their health.
Hailing from Clifton Park, NY, Dr. Keegan earned his Bachelor’s degree from Fairfield University, where he completed a Bachelor of Arts in Politics, a minor in Art History, and a Pre-Med concentration. He went on to earn his Doctor of Chiropractic degree from New York Chiropractic College in Seneca Falls, NY, graduating Cum Laude in 1996.
In 1997, Dr. Keegan founded Keegan Chiropractic in Sterling, VA. He is a member of the American Chiropractic Association and serves as District Director of the Unified Virginia Chiropractic Association.
Originally established in Sterling, the practice relocated to Ashburn in 2008. After five years in that location, Keegan Chiropractic moved just two buildings over to its current home in Ashbrook, where it continues to serve the community with expanded services and a modern, patient-centered environment.
PHILOSOPHY:
“My approach to chiropractic and overall health is rooted in restoring the body’s ability to function as it was designed—through efficient, pain-free movement. The human body was built to move, and when normal movement patterns are disrupted, dysfunction and pain often follow. Conditions such as back pain, neck pain, headaches, and many chronic issues frequently stem from altered biomechanics of the spine and its supporting musculature.
When movement is impaired, the nervous system often responds by protecting the area—limiting motion through muscle guarding and splinting. Over time, this can lead to muscle spasm, inflammation, pain, and accelerated degeneration.
Chiropractic care is a natural, effective way to restore normal motion and function by addressing joint and muscle restrictions that interfere with movement. Through precise chiropractic adjustments—combined with massage therapy and evidence-based physiologic therapies such as ultrasound and electrical stimulation—we help the body regain balance, restore motion, and remove the barriers preventing optimal performance and long-term health.”
